Homework 1

October 15, 2009

Well, I have to say so far I have been less than inspired by the first 2 homework assignments. They have both been reports, one about batteries and data storage and the other about researching the different types of camera’s avaliable. I received my first report back from marking last night, I got marks ranging from 2-4 on the various sections. The City & Guilds marking system is 0,1,2,3,4 (0 being the lowest mark available). I was pretty pleased to get some 4 marks in there!! I have not started the second report yet as I have no steam for it at the moment – It needs to be handed in next week so I guess I had better start it soon :)

Anyway, the reason I entitled this post as first homework is because we got given our first homework which actually involves ‘taking photographs’ WOW its only taken 4 weeks wooooo hoooooo!! So now I have to think of ‘something’ to photograph….this is where my self criticism really kicks in….and my overwhelming excitement about getting a good picture gets the adrenaline going…

The assignment is on composition…so we have to take 3 photographs of the same object thinking about perfect composition….so now I just need to think of something to take a photograph of…being as my house and garden are a building site there is no inspiration here…so I think I will head outdoors..maybe Hatfield Forest over the weekend…that could work and the children love getting their wellies on and running around in the mud! So watch this space for my pics :)

Hello world of blog…

October 10, 2009

This is my first ever blog post and I have to say I am very excited about it! So excited it has taken me nearly 2 weeks to write…I tend to stress myself out over really non-important things by wanting everything to be perfect, I then manage to put off whatever I really want to do out of fear. Strange.

My reason for starting this blog is because I have enrolled on a college photography course – C&G Image Capture and Digital Manipulation (or something like that). I love taking pictures, but have no idea of the science behind it. I would like to learn how to photograph “properly” and therefore have a way to express myself and what I love. My aim is to upload pictures I take for my course and explain them, a learning tool really and a way for me to see easily where I have been and where I am going.

Introductions….I am Charlotte age 30, married to Ian and mummy to Alex 3 and Olivia 1…
